Jonas Woodhead Bagnall

Born 1825

From the 1841 census we know that Jonas was born in 1825.

Baptism 26 February 1825

From this and the baptism records of some of Jonas' siblings, we know that his father, William Bagnall (senior) was a foundry worker who worked at times as an iron moulder.

Family

From the 1851 census we know that Jonas had his own family, with his wife Hannah (nee Race).

Jonas and Hannah lived at Camplins Yard. This may well have been in the Stanley Road/Greenhill Road area though I don't know with any certainty.

Their children are listed:

Thomas Bagnall	Age 3
Elizabeth Bagnall	Age 9 months

Not listed here, an earlier son, also named Jonas Woodhead Bagnall, was born 28 July 1846 at Eastmoor and baptised at St John's Church on 23 August 1846. He died in 1848 - which is why he doesn't appear in the 1851 census with the rest of the family - though no burial record has yet been found for him.

Elizabeth, listed above aged 9 months in the 1851 census, was baptised at St John's Church, Wakefield on 17 August 1851.

Death

Jonas died in 1884; Hannah outlived him by 25 years, dying in 1909.
